Personally, I would drop Axe Rake for Penetrating, and Conjure for Bull's Strike.

Conjure lighting is great DPS eh, and RoF spammers get owned by it as rof triggers on the conjure before the Axe hit.
/agree..

Conjure FTW on a w/e shock with 1 war, 3 monks.. It's very good on a team with less dmg because you will need that damage

My thanks to all who responded to this thread; I'm glad I haven't embarassed myself yet. I'm thinking of making a similar thread for shock-swords, since I've been on a sword trip as of late. The sword is underrated, in my humble opinion, and can be nearly as deadly as an axe when used properly. The real difference is one skill: Eviscerate.

[then] teams often run a a shock-axe warrior, but never use conjure
i on my own have never used it either, mainly for 2 reasons

-u can have more points in tactics for sheilds up, so that and aegis can be chained against r-spike

- u can use a zealous axe mod, which basically gives u infinite eng w/ frenzy. so u can sprint or frenzy when ever u need to.

yes it does slighly reduce ur damage, but it can be made up for easily if u do any kind of backgroud spike. and the higher strengh s a boon as well, and when ur eng is full enough u can switch to a vamp or sundering axe

as for the air offhand, just have a weapon set w/ the pve fire wand (+attack speed + 5 eng) and a reqless focus (ginger bread for style points), this way u can shock in emergancies

as i said i have never used it, but i dotn feel its worht the spot on ur bar or the points in air

I just play with distracting blow, eviscerate, executioners, axe rake and shock. 16 str, 13 strength, 3 air.

this my shock build:

16 axe
9 air
8 tactics
7 str

zealous/fortitude axe with 20% air +1 30hp storm artifact
i then switch to a +1 20% axe mastery axe for evis-exec spike since it appears for a slightly higher chance for a critical

shock
eviscerate
executioners
frenzy
sprint
distracting blow
shields up
res

im surprised how few warriors actually bring shields up with all the ranger spikes running around
much more useful than bringing axe rake

Conjure also makes it so you can't use a Zealous which is aFrenzy/Shock Warriors best friend in now days metagame.

The skillbar i run for Warrior is generally directed toward DMG and Interupt.

Eviserate [Elite]
Executioners Strike
Penetrating attack
Distracting Blow
Sprint
Frenzy
Shock
Res Sig

Attributes Something like
16 Axe
10 Strength
9 Air
Axes
Zealous +30 Fortitude
Vamp +30 Fortitude
1 Instance Shield
1 +27 NRG Air Offhand

what, so no one likes eviscerate+axe rake+axe twist? it seems to be working fine for me...

i guess penetrating attack is kind of good, but I shy away from ap with warriors, as the conditions have always been incredibly effective.

I usually run this :

9 air, 16 axe, 9+1 strength

frenzy, evi, rake, exe, dstracting blow, shock, sprint, res sig

If needed, I swap distracring blow for shields up with 9 air, 16 axe, 8+1 tactics, 5+1 strength

I love axe rake cause it allows you to slow a low life target so you can use executioner's strike to kill it instead of letting it kite.

Wow my skill set up is exactly like that, though I run with 16 axe, 11 tactics, 9 strength.

Yes, it has utility, but what about the duration of sprint? This skill is necessary in a few maps, beign the altars and the relic maps. The difference between a 10 and a 12 second sprint may be worth going 16/10 str/9 air. Truth be told, if it weren't for that necessary skill alone, I would run 16/9/9/5 axe in HA (with 5 being strength),sub out sprint for rush, and pack a heal sig (FTW, obviously).

I find its best to go one way or the other, personally. If you're running a spike build, interrupts won't do you much good, but I'd still advise packing distracting on a 2-axe team. For pressure, I find interrupts are your best friend. When part of an aoe, degen, or 3-mesmer build, I pack both axe interrupts. Absolutely fantastic to camp a warder, bonder, or spirit spammer when you have constant interrupt capability, and still pack Eviscerate->Executioner's for the kill. I would try it...very satisfying.

I have noticed that packing axe twist over axe rake gives you about a 10 damage advantage. However, the advantages of a crippled enemy are more than worth that 10 damage sacrifice IMHO. And if you're a fan of penetrating blow, that does do wonders against enemy warriors.
Typically, Thom, the only people to pack axe twist are "r2" IWAY noobs. I'm not accusing you, just making sure you know how much I truly hate it.

Yes, we already established that tidbit of evil beauty, and I agree with you. Run rake on the RC monk, and you will also cover the deep wound.

Oh, and I made a new thread on HA swords you all might have an interest in:http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s....php?t=3006276
